A Listening program is designed for your child...

After contacting Cluas you will be given an appointment for an initial assessment. During this assessment we will find out how your child listens, if there is any developmental delay and discuss personal history. After this, your child will be shown where his therapy will take place and be introduced to the Cluas staff.

Using the information gathered at the initial assessment, a personal Tomatis Therapy program is designed for your child by a Tomatis Consultant.

When his therapy starts, he will listen to music and voice recordings through headphones. The properties of these recordings are being constantly modified by the Electronic Ear, which has been programmed according to the personal program that has been designed for your child.

During his therapy he will be in a small group setting, guided by a Listening Therapist. The Listening Therapist will organise different activities, including sensory, social and active audio-vocal exercises. These exercises are designed to help your child develop and give him the desire and ability to communicate effectively.

The Listening program usually consists of three phases:

The first stage lasts for 15 days. There is a 2 hour session on each of these days.

The second stage begins 4 weeks after completion of the first stage. This phase lasts for 8 days - 2 hours each day.

The third stage begins 4 weeks after completion of the second phase. This stage lasts for 8 days - 2 hours each day.

Your child's progress and development will be constantly monitored and formally re-assessed at the beginning and end of each stage.

At the final meeting, recommendations for follow-up and further treatment will be made where appropriate. While 3 stages of the Tomatis Therapy may be enough for some children, experience has taught us that other children benefit from further stages of therapy.
